baby boys
my 4 month old son has learned to roll and now he wants to be free all the time. His happiest time is when I put him on the floor and just let him go. when my daughter was this age she didn't have 1/2 this much independence in her. I was wondering if any other mothers have experienced this with their boys. I know people say boys full adventure but I had no idea it would start at such a young age, I really wasn't ready to lose the sweet cuddling baby yet.

Re: baby boys
I don't have a boy so no help there. But I do know that my niece was the independent one for my sister, her son was much more cuddly.

Re: baby boys
all my friends had little boys when my daughter was born and they were all so sweet and cuddly until they learned to crawl then things got crazy. I just wasn't thinking it would happen so soon

Re: baby boys
Both my girls are very independent always have been from day one, but in very different ways..... Every baby is different no matter girl or boy so just love him and cuddle him when ever you get the chance...LOL.... I sneak in kisses... I hold them in my arms or gently on the floor - even when they are were little babies and give tons and tons of kisses all over their faces they like the game but it lets you cuddle and they love it cause mommy is being crazy. Oh and now that my girls are walking they are even more independent.... I play tackle mommy I sit on the floor and they run to give me a big hug and I fall back with them in my arms they think it is the best thing in the world.... And I get my hugggggssss!!!! So keep it in mind when you little independent boy seems to alway be running from you.....

Re: baby boys
I have two boys and my second one was like this. He hated to be held which was the total oppisite of my other son. And he was forever on the go.

Re: baby boys
Mine were just the opposite. My daugther was full on indipendance as soon as she could turn her head away from my kisses on her nose she did. My son is a cuddler and while he will go off and play on his own, he's happy to sit on my lap and cuddle all day, and probaby would if I wern't holding the baby all day. We'll see how this last one turns out!

I have seen both male and female babies who behave this way. Its not necessarily something that can be generalized.
I have seen mothers with independent daughters try to change the child while she is a toddler, which sets up a horrible childhood for the girl.
