Default Temper Temper

Question...anyone else have/had this? My darling 17 month old son has been throwing the worst temper tantrum lately. I took the bottle away three days ago. So the tantrums do seem to be associated with that. At nap or bedtime or in the car if he doesn't get his bottle he screams as loudly as he can, throws himself on the floor, kicks and will not let his dad or I console him. Last night and today a nap he looks directly at me and throws his cup on the floor and then stands there looking at me like now what are you gonna do about that. He will also do that with his binkie or whatever else is around. He's still not really speaking so I feel like he's mostly frustrated that he can't tell me what he wants. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Take the binky away if you want him to start talking to you, for one... that's just my opinion there, but I don't know him.

It's also usually easier to stop the bottle at a younger age, cause as they get older they get a better grasp on will power lol. And they get mad because they don't have what they want. But really you probably just have to stick to your guns and wait it out... He'll have to get used to it, and you know you're not hurting him. He'll take the cup if he wants to drink something. Don't worry, he'll forget about it soon enough. Good luck though. =)

I agree with Xero. I also wanted to add it could be just the age too. That is about the time my precious angels turned into monsters just to see what they could get away with.

I also agree. Stick with it and not give in to the bottle. Also it very much could be the age. The terrible twos starts and 1 1/2

I just want to chime in and tell you I totally feel your pain. My bubba man has been so crazy lately. He went from being my sweet little boy to a little devil trying to test me at very turn...lol

Dd didn't have any problem at all switching from a bottle to sippy.... but she still has her phases of tempers. Like Trina said, typical toddler stuff. ;-)

So I feel like an idiot. I tried giving the nighttime bottle back. His response... he threw it on the ground. So even with the bottle returned he was still angry. I put some oral gel on his teeth mid scream as I could see his molars while he was bellyaching. He "let" me put oral gel on all of his back teeth even opening his mouth wide. He never does that he doesn't like oral gel. When after the dose of mouth numb the tatrum ended. Duurrrrr. He's screaming mom my mouth hurts and I dont get it. He never pointed to his mouth or chewed on anything. In the past thats what he did when he had a sore throat or his teeth hurt.
