Who else plays this game?

I recently pick up this game which i think most kids would have played when they were younger.

it's the Rubik's Cube! it is a real challenging game and i almost tore off my hair learning how to play this game

i had the cube with the "manual" but i wasnt able to figure. so i went to youtube to learn fm this gentleman Dan Brown. it took my 1 day to get my FIRST cube proper! I was so overjoyed that i was running around the house like mad.

Through this game, I somewhat tap more on my logical and reasoning skills which is one component of Cognitive skills essential for learning. Other examples of Cognitive skills are Visual Processing Speed, Working Memory etc ... For those who aren't too sure, this set of skills basically form the fundamental of learning in everyone.

The reason I would like to share my Rubix Cube experience is that I sincerely feel that schools should have a lesson on teaching students to master the playing of this game, otherwise parents should join in the fun and play along with their children.

These are my humble opinions:

For kids, I think the outcome of the cube is not the priority but rather the process. The satisfaction and confidence gained by the child upon the completion of a single step are far more important than anything else

I self realize from this game, I ought to trust myself more as my instinct is most of the time correct.

I had one when I was a kid and never solved it either. Until, that is, I got out my trusty screw driver and disassembled the sucker

how funny. Ours had stickers on it so my sister and I peeled them off and glued them back on so it looked like we solved it.
(Don't tell, our dad thought we really solved it )

Ha me too. We used to snap a corner piece out (you can do by wiggling it) then the whole cube would come apart and could be put back together. Solved!

I had one of these years ago and I just find it so frustrating trying to do it. I seen a video on youtube also that shows you how to do it. Could have used this when I had one.

What amazes me is that there are people that can solve the stupid thing with their eyes closed, or the cube behind their backs, and in less than a minute! I couldn't solve it at all without directions!!
