Default For those of you that are okay with polygamy being legal....

Hi -

I'm the one that started the thread on "reading King & King and teaching kids its okay to be gay" in schools... It cracks me up because the thread immediately became about gay marriage, when I had asked about promoting homosexuality to kindergarteners, not gay marriage, oh well, also some of you didn't click on the links because you asked what "king and king" was, oh well......

Anway, someone wrote that they have no probably with polygamy being legal as long as everyone consents and is okay with it..........

So, then are you okay with:

* One man man 9 wives and each of them gets social security as if they were all his only wife ------thus raising everyone's taxes BIG TIME

* One man having 7 wives and they ALL are covered under his health insurance plan. (Which I assume will raise EVERYONE'S deductibles and premiums" -----Oh wait I just remembered about Obama's health plan, oops, but lets just pretend its current, not with Obama's health plan

* Families with many wives, husbands, get big tax breaks? (Like the spouses were children instead)

Just curious!

does it really shock you that the thread became about gay marriage??? here's your post from the other thread

How do you feeling on this?

Here are some links:

How same-sex "marriage" affects Massachusetts

Also there's a curriculum called "welcoming schools" that they teach in some schools. Google it for more. It talks about it being okay to be gay.
now explain to me why it cracks you up

I tell you Sahm. And I mean this in the nicest way, I really do.

I am not a big fan of clicking links in a post especially someone who has as few post as you do. So no I did not click your links. I'm not trying to say your links are anything other than legit. I just dont feel comfortable with that.

My comments were based off of what others and yourself had said. My bad.

To answer this post. I need more than one wife like I need a hole in the head. you have to be insane to want that.

Agreed. And yet if someone were to decide that they did want more than one wife, and the two women were cool with that, who am I to say no?

I still like to see facts to back up these statements
Quote:

I have a hard time believing this is true at all. Personally I feel as long as everyone involved are consenting adults it is not within my rights to judge how they choose to live their lives

Not that I dont love Amber and everything...but she's all I can take.

Now, if someone else wants more than one adult...why the hell not.

You could also look at the flipside...

Their families spend more money...if all the adults (parents) have vehicles, think of their insurance rates...or look at the grocery bill, or water and other utils...higher medical bills...as well there's more birthdays, xmas gifts also.

Personally I don't really care much about it, there is polygamy here too, but its pretty rare compared to US. I watched the Warren Jeffs trial, and all I could think was that the majority of the sect was simple-minded, non-self thinking, soft spoken, noticably "trained" people, that seem to be brainwashed into all having exactly identicals views on everything.

Fallon, I have heard that as an argument against polygamy but I don't have any links to give you. But even if I had not heard that, why would it not be a possibility?

I mean if gays got married but were denied health benefits wouldn't it be discrimination? Why would it not be discrimination in polygamy if they were legally married you know?

Would polygamy marriages be different legally than other marriages?
