parents who spank their kids out in public

How do you feel about the parents who spank thier kid out in public?

As long as it is no more then a swat on the butt, I am fine. I have seen parents who have gone overboard and bordered on abuse, and that can anger me, I called the police once I was so angry, and they did it where I worked so it was all on tape.

ya know it's a pitty that many of those who believe in spanking are afraid to do so in public to discipline their kids. i say that as long as you aint wailin' on 'em/slappin' e'm silly and it's just a few firms swats on the butt or tap on the back of the noggin' for the bigger kids to get their attention---then fine!. spank their butts. chances are they're needing a reminder anyway!

yep--spanking in public or not is just fine with me. i was raised with it. a lot of times it was the only thing that got my attention--->not the yelling at the top of my moms lungs or taking away the tv or the toys or that special treat. it was the spanking that worked!.

A spank on the butt, slap on the hand when they are grabbing for something...sure why not.

A swat on the bottom or hand, no problem.

But then there are always the stories on things you see that arent quite right, at work once a mother slapped her child accross the face for saying that they didnt like the soup they were given (mind you, being a nurse, my work was a hospital, and this child was my patient, in bed, and quite sick) it left a bruise and we got DOCS involved.

Some of the stuff people do in public bothers me, but most times just a completely acceptable tap on the butt or hand seems perfectly fine to me if needed. But we all know those crazies out there that go overboard with it and make everyone uncomfortable and I hope someone calls the cops on them. A full-out spanking, like a bad punishment, I would not want to see someone do that in public. Very weird. And no pulling down the pants.

Basically if it's just a quick, mild display then whatever. More than that, you need to go in the bathroom or hold it in or something.

I've seen parent's give their little ones a swat on the butt or on slap on the hand in public and don't think twice about it. I've also seen parents yell at their kids.

I've also seen kids say things and do things that parents do nothing about and I am just speechless. If that were me as a kid, I'd be ducking and dodging....

I've seen a mom slap her teenage daughter awfully hard. I thought about that a bit but did not do anything or say anything.

I've seen a dad belt his son in public. I opened my mouth and he decided he'd come after me. That turned out pretty rotten.


Guess my point is, there's a thin line of acceptability and the general public will only tolerate so much.

I think sometimes there's a veryyy fine line between acceptable and abuse. Of course, every kid is going to do something that the parent doesn't like, but why you would be compelled to spank them, I'll never understand. I think that if you feel the need to spank your child, do it at home where I won't have to say something about it. If your child flinches when you go to touch them and I see it, I'm going to think you're hitting them frequently.

I can't tell people what to do when it comes to their kids, but I'll never touch my kids that way.

I also don't spank or smack hands, It's not my thing, but I think it's okay if other people find it something that works for them (as long as it's not abusive or frequent). I don't think it's neccessarily bad, but I can't do it myself.
