Question it is and isn't parenting but affects us all in a way. so what ya think?

an article about drug testing for those on most any sort of welfare benefits.

States consider drug tests for welfare recipients

me thinks the drug testing should have already been implemented years and years ago.

Gonna play devils advocate again.

If they fail who is going to feed the kids? Is the money buying food or drugs? how can we know? Who is going to suffer the most if the money to pay for food diapers ect is cut off?

slippery slope

It's a thought, but if they're using it for the right thing, then they shouldn't have a problem passing a drug test.

And if the money is cut off what happens to the children?

Also, how does food stamps = buying drugs? Why would you cut off food stamps if someone tests positive to drugs? They still need to eat something.

Thats my point. even though some of the money may be used for drugs. The food stamps (I think they use a type of debit card now) may be traded for cash. Some of it is obviously going to food and clothing for the kids. Or all these kids would be naked and starving.

I dont disagree with it in principal. But I worry about the reality.

If you can afford to buy drugs you shouldn't need help putting food on the table or clothes on your kids. If you're buying drugs instead of doing these things you don't deserve to keep your kids. Just my honest opinion though. I have nothing against people who choose to use but I shouldn't have to provide for your family so you can get high
