wanted to introduce myself
Hi,
My name is Barbara. I am a recently divorced mother of two. My daughter is 22 and despite some extremely turbulant teen years is now a teacher's aid for special needs kids and is due to graduate in the spring with a bachelor's than finishing with her masters. I am extremely proud of the obsatcles she has overcome and would like to encourage anyone who is going through a tough time with their teens to hang in there, miracles do happen! 5 or six years ago if someone would have told me that not only was my daughter going to get her life together but actually be helping other problem children I would have had a hard time believing it. I never gave up hope for her getting her life on track because I had faith for it but the complete turn around amazes me till this day. I also have a son who just turned 18. He's generally a pretty good kid but just did something very stupid. He was in a car with some friends the kid that was driving was speeding and got pulled over and the police found pot in the car and arrested them all! Being a parent is a tough job, especially in today's times but with groups like this where parents can talk and help each other it makes it alot less lonlier. When I was going through my darkest times as a parent I wish I had thought to join these types of groups. I look forward to meeting all of you and hopefully after raising two kids and a niece maybe I can be of some help.
Barbara

Re: wanted to introduce myself
Welcome, and your are not alone.
What is good about the Internet and forums is that people can choose have faceless anonymity that they can't have in their day to day life. This gives them the freedom, if they choose, to talk about their problems and concerns more openly. People tend to be more honest, and sometimes more critical.
