Did you see this? "Will CDC urge circumcision for baby boys?"
Did you guys see this? I am neither for or against circ'ing your son (my oldest is and my youngest isn't) But the idea that the CDC may step in to "urge" all boys to get circumcised seems a little much to me. What do you think?

Re: Did you see this? "Will CDC urge circumcision for baby boys?"
They can "urge" it all they want, but they can't change the fact that it is a personal choice (hopefully haha). It all comes down to how much you care about it, and how much research is done on it by the parents who are expecting a boy in order for them to make their own educated decision. I'm sure they have their reasons for reccomending it, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're right about it, or anymore right about it than the people that are against circumcision anyway.
What it all comes down to in my opinion is that people HAVE to look into it, and find out about it for themselves, before deciding whether or not to do it. It might be difficult for younger people having kids though, the thought doesn't really occur to them to overlook what they are told.

Re: Did you see this? "Will CDC urge circumcision for baby boys?"
Well where it does affect is with funding. If the CDC and then the APA both recommend circumcision for medical reasons then insurance companies (including government run insurance) will have to cover circumcision. One of the reasons the numbers have been going down is that many insurance companies consider it cosmetic surgery now. I agree that everyone needs to decide for their family but it does seem a little odd that we are the only country recommending this for medical reasons.

Re: Did you see this? "Will CDC urge circumcision for baby boys?"
The reason behind this is what my issue is, we are urging a precedure on the bases of STD's, but shouldn't men (not babies) be usuing proper precautions, I can see where this would be beneficial in places like Africa where HIV is on the extreem end, but it still goes back to basic hygenie and a condom.

Eli's circumcision was paid for by his insurance. So I didn't really think about it like that.

I just think they would have more important things to worry about.
