Default Potty Training & Sitting Still!

We decided to give potty training a go with Lucas because he's been giving allot of signs he's been ready (taking off wet diapers, letting me know when he's going, etc.). So we bought him a potty to give it a whirl. Big surprise the mimic doesn't want to go in his potty he wants to go ON that toilet like a big boy (good thing we bought a convertible).

However I can only get him to sit still for about 30 seconds (and he can't GO in that short a time span!). Then I was thinking about it and I don't think I've ever gotten him to sit in once place for more then 30 seconds unless it's in my lap or bedtime .

I don't care all at if we're successful with the potty-training attempt, he's awfully young still; but I'm sure he'd get the hang of it if he'd just SIT still!

So we've tried books, toys, any thing else anyone can think of? Popsicles?

I don't think stickers would do it (good suggestion though, but one we've already looked into). Lucas is a really go, go, go little guy! I think I might be able to get him to sit still if he's eating, but I don't think food & the bathroom really mix well .

Eli would never go on his potty chair either haha!! He would only ever go on the regular toilet. Pain in my butt.

He was kind of too busy at that age too though, although he showed a lot of signs, and I ended up just letting go of all hope haha. It was never in my plans to stress him out over potty training, and I pretty much left it up to him and he just really wanted to do it himself. They don't have the best attention spans at that age. If he can't get the hang of it, it might just be too early.

Well we had a little progress! He peed in diaper on potty while we were sitting in the dinning room looking in a temporarily moved mirror! (I got him to sit still for like 5 minutes). The mirror is not particularly practical for our bathroom (plus there is on one the shower he can see). It's not much but I'll take it, he tried really hard to give me a poop too (you know when you can see it in their face ) and actually pooped about 10 minutes later.

So he "gets" the toilet thing, he just doesn't have the patients . Hey, that's ok, I really don't mind changing diapers that much! We'll keep trying and see where he leads us.

I just wish Lucas would stop taking off his wet diapers then peeing in his bed in the mornings switching him over to the toddler bed (taking off the crib bars) seems to have really helped.
