I think this is a personal decision and one that may differ with each child. I'm a SAHM. Both my kids started preschool at 3, two mornings a week. They LOVED it!

Not something I would ever support, I wouldn't have a puppy to send it off to complete strangers for 8 hours a day, never mind a child.

Jeremy+3, length of time wasn't mentioned. I became a SAHM because I wanted to avoid daycare (8+ hrs. a day) but that doesn't mean a child couldn't benefit from a preschool program, which is typically a few hours a week. In my area, preschool is generally two mornings a week for 3 yr. olds and 3 mornings for 4 year olds.

Starting at 3 my DS started preschool two mornings a week 9-11:30 a.m. He loved being with his friends and I cherished the one-on-one time with my youngest. DD also started at 3. She tended to be clingy, so preschool was a nice, gradual way to transition to full day school. She thrived in preschool and couldn't wait to start Kindergarten (half days, M-F).

Not to mention it provides interaction with other children his/her age. Which is greatly needed at that age.
