Default need opinion on idea for gift wrapping

thought i'd get a few opinions before we try this.

there's some things that need wrapped but there's no time or privacy or anywhere to go that would not put my mom at an inconvenience (my dad's conditon and her taking care of him so she doesn't need that sort of thing this year.) or keep the kiddos from seeing what they'll get and we live in an efficiency so there's not a separate room with a door that could be locked to keep the girls out. we usually do the wrapping at my mom's and put the gifts under the tree on christmas eve which has helped alot during the time we've been living in this and the other efficiency.

had a brain fart to let the girls help wrap each other's gifts while the other is napping or still asleep. b/c chloe takes naps where as emmy doesn't have to though she does and chloe stays up late b/c she's a night owl and takes naps and emmy is typically in bed long b4 chloe.
or we could get them to both wrap the gifts at the same time and put the name tags on at the last minute.

so do ya think it'd work to have the girls help wrap the gifts?
or do ya have another idea?
there's no way we could do it without making a whole lot of noise. it seems the quieter you try to be the louder you are so the kids would hear us and wake up and see what they were getting.

What is an efficiency?

We wrap all presents in our bedroom, no one over the age of 1 is allowed in there without out our permission, we don't have a lock on the door, but they know sneaking in isn't worth it, our floor boards are creaky, so we can even hear the cat walking around in there from downstairs.

What if they tell each other what they have? If our younger ones know what presents people have, they will go out of their way to tell everyone!

Jeremy, an "efficiency" is a small usually one room, apartment (or flat)

Where are the gifts being hidden right now? I seem to remember you talking about taking the bus, so I'm not sure if you have a car or not... I know some people use the trunk of the car to hid presents, maybe you could wrap in the car? arrange to take a hour and go to a friends's house? of maybe a church if you go or know somebody? You could probably even get some help from a youth group memeber or something.

Not sure if any of that applies or is useful, just trying to come up with ideas.

Yeah, its usually one room with a bathroom and (probably but not always) a kitchenette in it. I have heard of some of them having a bedroom, but not usually.

We've been using our cars to hide presents lol. My mom babysat for us for a day so we could wrap Eli's presents, but really we could have done it while he was asleep. Is there any way you guys could try to be stealthy and do it at night? Or I know this sounds rediculous, but you could even try doing it in the bathroom? lol Do what you have to do! Don't let them wrap their presents! lol

we usually hide them at my mom's. tha'ts where they're at now. we also usually wrap them at my mom's.
good idea to use the bathroom but it barely has enough room to get outta the shower.
we got a car, dh uses it for work.
the bus is that emily now has to ride the bus to and from school.

was thinking of having them wrap each other's gifts and tell them it was for some other kids we gotta go see christmas day and that their stuff is hidden. trick them a little and start teaching them how to wrap stuff and more of the gifting to others.

I know DS1 (who is also 7, almost 8) loves to wrap stuff for his brother...but i still don't get how they wouldn't see thier own presents, unless you're going to ship one of them off while the other wraps...I think you gotta figure out a way to hide that if you can.

I dont think its a bad idea to let them help with some. But not all.

Do you do the santa thing. if so, I first would tell the worst xmas story. The year we peaked. Then we had to pretend we didnt know when everyone was opening the gifts. Felt like lying. Or something to that effect.

Then have the bathroom to yourself xmas eve. Also some santa gifts are staged and not wrapped layed out around the tree. I would guess I am not alone when I say many christmas eve's were late nights for me and DW. Good luck and above all have fun.

thanks for your opinions.
they tried a couple yesterday. think the stuff is for a child less fortunate. with no name tags. they did a great job wrapping too with a little help folding edges.
but what's left will have to be done vewy vewy quietly tonight.

yes bssage, we do santa too. emmy even made reindeer food at school b4 the break started and both girls have picked out a great snack for santa tonight. the snack will be easy to take care of. its the reindeer food we don't know what to do with now.

we all did the peaking too. sure did mess up the day for us. wasn't as much fun.
