my new gadget.
I just got this and so far so good. its a seagate freeagent theatre. The reason I mention it is because I have put most of DD movies on it.
Copy (legally) on your computer your own movies. Then drag and drop the onto a memory stick and load them up. Its working pretty slick. Because of DD's issues we ruin a lot of dvd's and have replaced a dozen or so cd players. I just unboxed this loaded a memory stick and bam. If you cant tell I'm really proud of myself with this. I'm a happy guy and DD is watching stuff she hasnt been able to for awhile.
Ask questions if you have them. I'm not selling or linking anything and dont care if you want one or not. Just very happy with myself. I figure this 50$ gadget is gonna save me a lot just replacing damaged DVD's and players

Re: my new gadget.
That sounds awesome!! We have a ton of movies on the computer for Eli too, and we use a flash drive to let him watch them. You select a movie, drag it to the file that belongs to the removable disk (flash drive) and it holds the movie on it. You take it out, stick it in the X-Box and bam you're watching a movie. We love it. Way better than using the original DVD's which get lost and scratched and broken.

Re: my new gadget.
I havent tried it with Coles xbox. Ill give it a shot.
I'm really liking this thing. It appears to continue playing movies in sequence. So if I got like a 200 gig flash drive I think I could play program directer and just line her up with the shows we like to see her watch baby einstein, dora, charlie brown. and not worry about it any more. Just let it run and loop. We dropped a ton of cash replacing stuff the last 7 years

Re: my new gadget.
200G!!!!! LOL now that will be expensive! xD But I guess totally worth it in the end due to how incredibly convenient it is and how much money it will save you replacing broken stuff.

Re: my new gadget.
Yeah I know!! But really, you wouldn't need that much space for what he wants to use it for. You would need a lot lol, but not 200G. You're average laptop has like 200G. I think 50G would be more than enough to hold a good sized collection of movies and shows. Think of it this way - the average movie is about 1G. TV shows, lets just say 12 episodes, would probably be 3 or 4G. I would see how many you have of each and go from there to figure out how many gigs you want on a storage device.
This one is 64G, that would probably be perfect unless you had tons and tons.
Walmart.com: Corsair 64GB Flash Voyager GT USB 2.0 Flash Drive - CMFUSB-64GBGT: Computers
But I'm sure bssage was probably just using that number to convey the fact that he wants one... that can hold a lot.

Re: my new gadget.
You can just buy software instead here you can get software for £35, then you put the dvd into your computer, it is copied using the software. Then if you wish you can back it up on another computer, external hard drive or usb stick. Then you can put your usb stick into a tv, play station etc to play it else where instead of just on a computer.

Re: my new gadget.
What I ment was external drive. Welcome to Western Digital US Online Store
If you keep a sharp eye out they can be had for less than $0.06 per gig. The link above is $0.07 per gig.

Re: my new gadget.
If you have a Tivo there are some open-source programs that allow you to stream any video file from your PC directly to your TV. You can also view pictures or listen to music that is on your pc through your tivo
