pssssd. (vent)
Its so freakin frustrating when DD does something bad and I dont feel like I can get mad about it. She keeps peeing on her carpet "I go peepee on carpet" And the whole house smells like a urinal. She has been doing it more in the last week. Then last night she dumps a can of pepsi on my Palm Pre and my new blue tooth sterio head phones. I've been drying the phone out. And don't even ask if I have insurance for my phone. I dont. Its one thing if DS had done it I could raise my voice and get a little mad. Or if DW had done it I could WTF!!!!!. But with my sweet little angle none of those are options. The only person I can get mad at is me for setting the phone where she could get to it (the kitchen counter). So now if feel like an A$$ and a idiot.(Y*T&^%$$%^$%#%%^&*#@!!!!!!!!)

Oh no!! That really stinks!! I'm sorry. I know what you mean, there are a lot of things that you really can't yell at a baby for either and I've been there before haha. You're a good daddy. I hope you feel better and your phone dries out.

Re: pssssd. (vent)
can you replace the carpet with a tile or wood floor in her room? and add a pretty area rug that she likes?
try putting your phone in some rice. heard that'd help.

Re: pssssd. (vent)
awe sorry to hear bssage!!! I dumped a whole cup of scalding coffee on DH new blackberry on a road-trip to vancouver to go to the PNE. Needless to say, he was NOT impressed. I heard the rice thing helps, or what we did with my camera when it got waterlogged (dont ask) we took the battery out and set it on a window sill in the sun for a while, that worked really well!

Re: pssssd. (vent)
Don't replace it with wood! Wood will absorb pee so bad you'll wish you had carpet haha. Wood holds smells like you wouldn't believe. And wood can't be deep-cleaned, so the only way to get the smell out would be to rip it up. Tile might work, but it would suck to have to have tile in a bedroom lol. But you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. Linoleum is almost as bad as wood, only a little better if you catch the accident in good time. But better. And definitely better than carpet. Still kinda funny in a bedroom though lol. Maybe pull ups might be neccessary for a while?

Re: pssssd. (vent)
Isooropyl alcohol Q tips and a magnifing glass. Last night. Set it a couple of feet from space heater. And its back and running.
Ripped out the carpet and pad a few minutes ago. Its all in a pile outside. Smells better already. its hardwood underneath.
But xero. she tells us after she does it so we could mop or wipe it up right away. There's nothing we can do with the carpet. But I thinking about those garage pads. There pricy but I think they dont absorb liquids. I going to research them tonight. She will probably figure it out right when I plunk down a chunk of change for floor covering.

Re: pssssd. (vent)
bassage can i ask what form of consquences are being used when she does do something that is wrong?
Just because she has a disability doesn't mean that you can't get upset/frustrated with her. She should know that her actions are causing you frustration, while she may not quite understand it it is ok to let them see it, not all people will be as understanding with her in the future and she should recognize when people are displeased with her actions.
That was a really hard thing for me to learn with Ted, Ted had no comprehension, at the time I was told it was a language/comprehension disorder, but I bet if I had known more about autism/asperger's he might have actually fallen into that catagory, his IQ is 80 (learned that 2 days ago) and if it weren't for the bi-polar I might have pushed further testing now, but the bi-polar will screw up any real test's they could do.
Ok back on topic, in the beginning I "babied" him, after all he didn't fully understand his actions....right? Wrong while he may not of understood the exact reason's I was upset he did start to link X behaviour with my displeasure. You couldn't even explain it to him because his ability to comprehend was minimal at best. I did a great diservice to him the first 8-9 years of hi life, once I realized that his life and mine got easier. Obviously yelling and screaming isn't the answer, nor is spanking, but you can still show your anger and make it very clear that such actions are not ok with mommy and daddy.
I don't mean for this to sound preachy, but just thought I would share something that I had to learn the hard way.

As a woman with more animals then should be legal I have a few suggestions but this based off the idae that your couch is standard fabric. First you need to get the urine smell/markers out of the couch or the kitty will keep coming back to that spot. You'll need to get some of that urine out that any pet isle will have and soak the cushion in it, then let air dry, next use a little vinegar and water about 1 cup water with 2 tablespoons vinegar and spray the cushion down with that, it smells a little but goes away pretty quickly (can also add vinegar to the laundry if they get to your dirty clothes) once that is dry go ahead and shampoo the cushion. This should solve the problem.
If the kitty goes back after all that get a handy squirt bottle ready and everytime kitty heads to that cushion squirt, even if they aren't doing anything wrong...they eventually get the hint.
Good luck kitty urine is horrible.
