i still don't get why the dad couldn't have taken care of the child. there's not very many excuses that can be made for him not being able to do so...

you were right. there are more layers to this onion. from the article,

She is being demoted in rank to private and will lose benefits afforded to military service members and veterans....
i think there should be more consequences than this but at least there is something being done about her actions.
