    To sell or not to sell?...

    I find it hard to sell things to family members, or to let my children do so. Seems to make the relationship too "commercial."

    If he were my son, I won't just take his word for what he has done, what grade he is getting etc. I would want to see everything for myself. If a child is not responsible enough to do certain things, it helps if there's an adult supporting and supervising him until he's ready to do for himself...

    I would suggest looking at other schools. And if the public school is an ok one, it may be better to send him there and save the private school tuition for other kinds of intervention (tutoring, coaching etc.)

    I believe it depends on the student. If he or she is responsible, takes the studies seriously, makes the most of the opportunities, I won't mind paying for the college education within my means. However, if they are uncertain, fooling around, partying more than studying, then no, I won't pay.
