    All kids are different, situations are different, and risks are different so I don't imagine there is a one size fits all solution. And many safety products can become a crutch, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't use them. I'd be very interested to hear how this works out for you.

    Sleeping when traveling...

    We had one child with a very similar problem and we were successful by bringing our own crib mattress and just laying it on the floor. It was a little awkward in hotels, but a good nights sleep is well worth it!

    5. Lego. I know it's popular, but I don't think it's value can be overstated. I've seen it used by boys/girls of all ages. It's creative. It uses math skills. Hard to beat! (P.S. I also agree about the Leapreader as another underrated toy).

    You could probably help by giving her some alternatives that don't feel like saying no. Such as loaning it out, trading it, offering to have a play date with it, share it at school, etc.
