I would say just let your daughter know that she might have fun playing and can come to you if there is a problem, but that ultimately the choice is hers.

Sounds like me a long time ago. I learned that you don't need to go overboard for kids to feel welcome, and it's never too late to learn.

Do you give them too much freedom at the beginning? I learned long ago that it's nice to do what makes kids like you, but if you don't show them you're the adult from the beginning, they don't accept it so easily later.

There are diapers for all ages for cases where someone needs them. Maybe use them when going out.

14 is old enough to make her own choice about that. If she wants to go see her mother, she should. For preparation, just let her know that it might look a bit scary in there and it will be different seeing her mother there. As for questions, let her ask what she wants. Her mother will answer, or...

I think that's one of the main issues, what kind of homework. Homework well planed out can be beneficial, while the wrong homework can just be detrimental.
