Hi,
Our very old Hoover vacuum stopped working after about 15 years. Our local vacuum cleaner shop would not even look at it. It's time to move on and find a replacement. What are the best vacuum cleaner brands and options these days? Do you recommend upright or canister ones? We do have quite a lot of hardwood floors, so we'd need something good for that.I've googled around a bit and https://www.the-vacmaster.ca/ recommends Panasonic MCCG902 canister vacuum that's supposed to be specifically good for hardwood floors,What do you think about My options?

Avoid beater brushes (the brushes that spin under the vacuum head) - they can damage hardwood, linoleum and laminate flooring.

If you have a medium to big place that is spacious a disposable bag with a pull along attached to the hose would be better suited.

If you have smaller place then you could opt for a small, upright, stick vac.

The best brand is up to what you prefer. Dyson is supposed to be very good, but it is very expensive.

Bissel is alright, but not the best in performance. I have a Bissel and I'm always having to check for clogs fix things. It's more on the cheaper end.

If you're on a very tight budget you can go for a Swiffer Sweeper vac. Or just the Swiffer Sweepers.
