Is it normal to be this scared?...

singledad, if you are nervous, anxious, excited, then I have to say that you are a completely caring and responsible parent. If you weren't all of those things, I would say you probably aren't normal :) My brother in law drove his car to the police station after I installed their first car...

    Somebody else's cat......

What M2M said :) I recently was adopted by a cat. Working on two more too. Not kittens from the cat... she has a clipped left ear which means she was spayed and released back where she was found. There are a lot of feral cats on St. John and they spay and neuter them, clip their left ear...

    Male daycare provider...

"There is so much demand for daycare here that it's getting to be the norm for private unlicensed centers to open." That statement scares the sh*t out of me. The demand for a service should in no way determine/reduce the qualifications for a service. In this case, I would be even more...

    Male daycare provider...

Thought I would just throw in my 2¢.... I would only put my children in a licensed daycare situation or know the caregiver extremely well. The three providers that I have had for ilo have all had their masters in early childhood education (which I am willing to pay more for). And whether good...

    Another update...Not a good one tho :(...

Hope you heal up soon. I can't imagine how much that hurt! I feel your pain about the finances. Been there, it sucks. Hopefully you guys can hang in a little bit longer and things get straightened out.

    Anyone need to smile today?...

:) They are so funny at that age. Ilo does some pretty good 'super cheese' faces too. He's at the 'watcha me!" stage. I need to have a video camera glued to my head so I can catch some of that silliness.

Chores - kids & step kids...

Farm life is a lot different than city life and I am with singledad on this. There just are some things that HAVE to get done every day on a farm. But I do think that just because it is called a chore doesn't have to mean it has to feel like a chore to do it. Maybe you could have the boys do...

    Laundry Questions...

:) I guess that is only going to work with a top loader. All of the front loaders that I've used have the dispenser for the soap. I like the top load machines better. Old fashioned I guess!

    Laundry Questions...

If you think about it... if you pack your machine with clothes, you are leaving less room for water. So you are trying to wash more with less water. There has to be enough water in the machine that it can clean the clothes and for them to move around so the water and detergent can get in all...

    Laundry Questions...

The smell and the dry time probably has to do with how big the loads are. The clothes can't really get clean unless they have room to move around a lot in the washer. So the clothes are still dirty... and sit for awhile... have time to grow some smelly stuff. Then the dryer can't efficiently...

    Eli and Ty Guy...

Thanks for posting :) I always love to see pictures of everyone and the people we are always talking about. I used to think the boys looked almost the same, but now that they are older I can see more differences between the two. But they definitely both take after their pretty mommy!

Just realised i dont know much about some of you guys...

My name is Julie and I have two boys, age 12 and 2.5. I was born in Ohio, but didn't live there long. Grew up in the Midwest USA, but have lived on St. John, the smallest of the US Virgin Islands, for the last 14 years. I own a designer jewelry store. I don't really have any hobbies :) No...

    Unsociable Child...

Would love to hear an update after your meeting. Having to make a threat to get a meeting is a HUGE red flag to me. Good luck!

    Unsociable Child...

From what you have said, it doesn't sound like it is unusual behavior. All kids are different. But maybe what they are trying to say is this is unusual for Matthew? Is what you wrote all the letter says? If that is all the letter said I would be with TabascoNatalie and akmom, thinking that...

    It's been awhile...

Yup, that's me :) I will be 40 this year... so definitely not too young for Luca! But sometimes too old for having Ilo!!! Maybe we should start a new thread here with poster pictures. Since I am usually the one manning the camera, I only have a couple of me. I took this one of myself and...

    It's been awhile...

I know, they are so big now! Ilo is a ham and a half. Very social, silly, and no fear. He likes to do just about everything. He's fully potty trained now and we are hoping to get him into a preschool situation in the fall. He's young, but it's not a structured school, more like a daycare...
