He doesn't do it all the time. Just a little more than usual lately. I figure he is just growing.

yeah I have done the make a loud noise thing to. I try to do ANYTHING instead of yell or hit. That is my goal as a parent. Do not hit or yell. There are other ways to do things!

This is what I do, if something like that happens (reaching for something that can hurt the child). First, I grab their hand with my hand. Then I slap MY hand. This makes a slap sound, it is alarming, it will get their attention, but it does not cause pain in their hand. It works really well.

If the father didn't cause the issue between his kids, he wouldn't have to deal with this. The issue is the father. Not the kids. IMHO. Who slaps a 2 year old? In the hand or not. You do not hit a 2 year old. Or any kid for that matter.

Well first of all, why are you slapping a 2 year old in front of your 5 year old? Why are you slapping a 2 year old at all? I think that is where you need to start. I think the problem is not the 5 year old.

It is not your position to predict what the mother will say or how she will react. That is being selfish and you are worried about how you will look\feel and not about the child. Children come first bro. Get your priorities straight.
