    Lack of independence....

We are currently on a fortnight's camping holiday with DD(7) and a couple of her School mates and their parents. We have a few fun activities planned for the kids, eg..crazy golf, golf (they are all good golfers), tennis, badminton, squash and swimming. We arrived in caravan site at half 4...

    School Issues....

Treats wouldn't work, School have tried that (everytime she goes out with a fully fastened up coat, she gets an extra 10mins on computer), they say that if she doesn't want to do something, nothing will change her mind, that is why they are forced to fasten it for her. They don't want one child...

    School Issues....

What makes you think that teacher is a bully lol? All she is doing is getting DD to follow a simple rule. What I can't understand is, why are School asking for my help because all I can do is, on days that she has recess I can say "if its raining and teacher asks you to fasten your coat then...

    School Issues....

Some parents may disagree with my stance lol. I only make her fasten her coat if its pouring with rain or in winter and as I say, it has to be fastened all way to top with her hood up plus scarf/gloves on to protect her from cold and to keep her uniform clean and dry.

    School Issues....

FWIW, she doesn't *always* get to choose if her jacket needs fastened because if its chucking down with rain and her jacket is wide open, I ask her to "fasten your jacket darling, its pouring" and if she doesn't, I do it, I fasten it right up to top and put up her hood.

    School Issues....

Singledad, I have asked DD to ask that exact question, which she did. She was told "it is to keep you dry during recess or break/lunchtimes plus in order to keep uniform clean", then she was told "don't question a rule again or else you'll be sent up to see headmistress. The teacher will...

    School Issues....

The School want me to try and get through to her that she won't get out at break times if she won't obey a simple rule but apart from reminding her that, until her jacket is fastened up, she won't get out, there is nothing else I can do :-(. So any useful tips or advice would be greatly...

    School Issues....

No Antoinette (lovely name btw), that wouldn't work because the rule states that until the Jacket is fastened up, they don't get out, in fact, even if the hood isn't up, they don't get outside until it is. They put that rule in place because the teachers don't want kids coming back into class...

    School Issues....

I know. We were making progress with this by letting her decide when to fasten the coat, now School are insisting on it being fastened in poor weather, even resorting to fastening it for her. Yes, to all 3 questions cybele, they want me to work with her over the holidays regarding this issue...

    School Issues....

I have had a letter sent home to me from School regarding DD not obeying orders and answering teachers back. The School have a rule in place; if weather is cold/wet or snowing then pupils MUST wear a coat and the coat has to be fastened up before they get outside to play. School say that on wet...

    Progress on issues with tantrums....

I have had considerable success in cutting out DD's temper tantrums. I set down boundaries so anytime she takes one, she is sent to bed early that night. She still won't walk to School alone but tbh, I don't mind that, or the fact that she likes to hold hands when walking. She also has cut...

    At what age?...

She doesn't sit on my lap as much as she used to in the past but she does still get lots of hugs and kisses and still holds my hand any time we go out.

    Temper Tantrums...

She took one at School today because she was told that she wouldn't get outside at lunchtime unless she zipped up her coat, it is a school rule that children MUST zip their coats whilst outside, but teacher just followed her threat and kept her inside which upset bairn even more but as it is a...

Kate is very sporty, she plays lots of different sports at School, her favourites include Swimming, Tennis and Netball. She watches a lot of Tennis whilst at home as I watch lots of it on tv as I am a huge Tennis fan, we love watching Wimbledon. She does get to go swimming a bit as well but...

    Temper Tantrums...

I wouldn't say that she doesn't miss him because she does, she enjoyed him tucking her into bed and reading her bedtime stories and his comforting when she needed comforted. She hasn't taken any temper tantrums since he left and has even had her coat zipped up a lot more, she says that is...

    Temper Tantrums...

She hasn't taken a tantrum ever since me and her dad split up a couple of days ago so that is a bonus plus she is a lot happier, even at School :-).

    Over-reacting OH....

Well, today she came out of School with her coat on and fully zipped up, she then said to me "I only left my coat unzipped because Dad made a silly rule that it has to be zipped at all times, now I get to choose which makes me happier" so it was due to the silly rule that she didn't zip it. For...

    Over-reacting OH....

Akmom, as I have said a few times, she will only wear a zip up Regatta coat that has no buttons or velcro. Singledad, I know its a strange rule and god knows why it has to be zipped when its on and no it doesn't rain 24/7. It should be about staying dry when it rains hence why I only ask, not...
