Admins help?...

I have no idea how to help with the issue of notifications messing up, also if it is possible to create a like/dislike button of some kind (less important, obviously). Also, am I doing something wrong or are Youtube videos not working on this forum anymore? I can't get any to work. Here is the original thread for the people complaining of notification problems etc...

Notification issues: We are having problems with notifications network wide and are addressing the issue by changing up our mail servers, this might take some time.

The like plugin is installed but it requires a lot of work on the skin so it cant be completed at this time. However...

Did you know you already have a reputation plugin? the little yin/yang icon next to the user? My thought was that if members have already built up a rep on this, the might be disappointed by the new plugin superseding their rep points.

That's alright, I'm sure no one will be devastated by the lack of a "like" type of button for now. I think it was just an idea a lot of us thought would be fun, certainly not necessary though. I am very familiar with the rep system. I am pretty sure (but not 100%) that everyone else is too, and really I think that is probably good enough. It didn't occur to me that the "like" feature might start to take over...good point. I'm not sure if that would bother the other members or not. I think the like button appeals to everyone, because you can use it anytime (where you can only give someone rep every so often), and also it would be known that "this many people" agree with what was said in a particular post. More simplified, I think. I can ask in more detail how people feel about the whole thing though.

The problem with rep is that for some of us we can't give it. I can not give it to anyone. It says that I need to spread the wealth. I get why that was put there, but I have no one else to spread it too. I think a lot of members are finding this as a problem.

ok, just run it by everyone to see if its ok to get rid of the old rep system. if so i will see what i can do to get some engineering time to work the new like system into the template.
