Okay bssage. Now I'll teach you a few other things, like deleting threads and posts, editing posts, closing threads and maybe moving them.

First, another thing on banning people. Always ban the immediate spammers, site pimpers, blog advertisers, porn people... etc. Its usually pretty obvious. People that for instance maybe add a link in their legitimate introduction to their blog or some personal business or you know something almost harmless like that, just edit their post (Yes! You can edit ANYONE's posts now) and delete the link and replace it with ***MOD REMOVED SITE LINK*** or ***PM FOR LINK*** whichever you like better and give the reason you edited the post in the reason box, and then post a gentle warning in the thread explaining that we don't allow site linking here (or whatever) etc... and follow the message with a link to the forum rules. There's not much to be explained about editing, its exactly the same as you would edit your own post only on somebody else's. :) Just click the edit post button and proceed. If the person you warned does it again, that's probably all they're here for and you can go ahead and ban them!

If someone posts in an old thread, give them a gentle warning along with a link to our rules. I'm sure you've seen enough of our warnings to base yours off of. :) Just be nice and yet firm. After you post that, then you can close the dead thread. I will show you how to do that as well.

If someone posts for instance a news article in the general parenting forum, then all you have to do is just move it. I'll show you how to do that, its pretty easy.

Other than that, as far as members go as long as everyone is being semi civil and not bashing or being outwardly rude or anything, they can pretty much do their thing. If anything stands out to you, you can gently warn the person to be respectful and whatnot. I would say just carefully read over the rules and it will give you a good idea what people are and aren't allowed to do. :) You can warn them if its neccessary, and if after a couple warnings they keep it up, you can give them an infraction. I'll tell you how to do that if the time ever comes. Or if I see a spammer while we're both online, we can practice on them LOL.

And if there's anything we don't cover, or anything you're not sure about, you can always PM me or any of the other mods and we'll be more than happy to help. I still ask questions sometimes. :)

Let's begin!

Okay, first lets have you edit my post. Let's say, I want you to go to And see my amazing profile!! Sign up and join millions of users on our wonderful website! lol But I totally want to meet other parents and talk about parenting stuff so don't neccessarily ban me. :D

Bssage, go ahead and click "Edit" at the bottom of my post and delete the website, and tell everyone why you edited my post in the reason box. You don't have to warn me though, I'm sure you can figure out what you want to say for that stuff on your own. :)

As for this post, its totally spammy cause I just want you to buy my amazing parenting product. So you're going to delete it.

In the top right hand corner of this post, there is a post number (#3) and right next to that is a little box. Click on it, and it will check mark and highlight my post. Then at the bottom of all the posts, there will be a little drop box with the word "Moderation" over it. Click on it and choose "Delete posts", then click "Go". The next screen will ask you a couple things. It wants to know if you want to "soft delete" or "physically remove". You'll pretty much ALWAYS choose "soft delete" that way, the post is deleted from the forum but as mods we can still see it if we feel like it, and we can see the reason for deleting and refer to it later if we need to etc. There's really never any reason to physically remove, so don't really use that. Under "Reason for deletion:" Just write whatever it was like "Spam" or "Porn" or whatever. Then just click "Delete post" and it will be done!! :) You can undelete too, but we don't usually need to. If there is more than one posts in a thread needing deleted, you can choose them all at once if you want.

Okay, so you can delete this post. :D

As soon as you get back online and you're ready (and I'm online of course) I'll set things up so that you can practice moving a thread too. Again, sorry for not being online to show you all this earlier! :p

Nice!! You're a natural! lmao

I work today so I'll only be around until about 1:30 but I get out at 9pm, so if you're still up I'll be online by 9:30, 9:45 at the latest tonight. :) I could have you move a thread then. Or if that doesn't work out, no problem, I have tomorrow off for once so we can do it then.

Another thing I forgot to mention in the training, was the reported posts. They will show up in the "Reported posts and infractions" subforum. When you see one with no reply, check it out and if it needs taken care of (usually does) then go delete the post and ban the person, and then leave a reply in the thread that was created for the reported post saying something like "I got it!" just so we know somebody took care of it. You can see examples in that subforum just by looking at the threads.

If you have any questions at all, PM me any time.
