My littlest one just had strep and was antibiotics and last night she came to me with another fever of 104.0 and a headache and throwing up but no sore throat.
The nurse said "it's probably just a stomach bug" which hopefully it is but I don't understand why it's just no going away if it's strep. She's washing her hands.
I can't wait until Summer. It seems like this year they are getting so sick. Just my girls. They've never missed a day of school until these last few months and they've already missed close to 8 days. This is nuts.
I don't know what else to do. I've sprayed, bleached, you name it I've done it. I've become OCD I swear. Any thing that I'm not trying?<EMOJI seq="1f615"></EMOJI>

how long ago since she had the strep? It might be the same thing and she needs a stronger antibiotic. Or the nurse is right and its just a virus that she picked up after being sick. Her immune system may have been low so she caught it.
I hope she fels better soon

She had step about a week and a half ago and she was put on amoxicillan and she was totally better. Then last night she started with this but her throat isn't red or sore and I don't see the bumps.
I'm going to wait this one out and see if it is just a virus. She just has a headache and the tummy cramps and a low grade fever and I have her drinking. I just feel like they are constantly sick. Maybe I clean too much?

is she still on the antibiotic. Nichole has never had it, so I don't know, but for her bladder infection, she has 14 days of antibiotics. How long did they put your dd?

She had the antibiotic for seven days or was supposed to. There was some left in the bottle and I'm thinking I screwed up and didn't give it to her the whole seven days. The phamacist said it was supposed to be for ten but it did not say that on the bottle.
I feel like such a horrible mother when I don't get it right. This is where their father would be nice to have. The other two wanted to go to a birthday party today and they can't go because of the one home sick.
It was sweet though because the one that's not sick said "my sister is more important then any birthday party". That just melted my heart. She's such a booger wiping sweetheart. ;)
If the little one is still sick, I'll take her in on Monday. Doesn't strep cure itself even without anti biotics?

Yup she has it. I just got the flash light out and I saw the red and white bumps that the Dr showed me the last time. I should have looked earlier. :( Do you think I should take her to the ER now that her Dr is closed? I don't know if it's good for her to wait till Monday.
I put a call in to the Dr, maybe he can call something in. Great, now I'm scared. :(

I PM'd you.

Don't blame yourself. Even if you keep your house immaculate, she will pick stuff up when she is around other kids. The best that you can do is teach her to wash her hands before she eats and after she uses the bathroom and hope that the snotty, coughing, sick kids stay home.

do you have any of the antibiotics left?

and this is what I found

Why is it very important to detect and treat a strep throat?

The condition known as rheumatic fever is a disease that affects the joints and heart and is caused by untreated or inadequately treated strep infection. Rheumatic fever can cause damage to the heart valves. Fortunately, it is now uncommon in the current antibiotic era. Another complication that can occur after inadequately treated strep throat is a kidney inflammation called glomerulonephritis. This can cause decreased kidney function, and blood and protein in the urine.

The ER is closer. There aren't any clinics like that over where I am. I do have antibiotics left but the pharmacist said that they no longer have the active ingredient in it and they wouldn't work :(
They are only from 3/5/08 but she said no.
I'm just freaking about the heart issue. It's really racing. I put in another call to the nurse.

I would say not to worry about that right now. There should be another doc you can go to that is open today. Liek a Care NOw or something. I mean if you have to go to the ER, then go now. It will be busier as the day goes on

usually your doc has someone you can go to when they are not open. I know I go to a single doc practice so they are not open on Saturdays either. But she has a doc that she works with that we can go to (another area of the city completely) when she is either on vacation or not during her hours kinda thing

We can't do that with our insurance. I'm waiting to hear back from this nurse but it doesn't seem like she's going to call back. I don't want to worry and wouldn't but I read that it could cause heart problems for life that's pretty scary. Ahahhhh I know........I'll see if my brother in law can call her in the antibiotics maybe that'll work. Be back in a bit.

thats a good point too, see if your docs after hour nurse can refill the prescription she was already on. That way you don't have to go to the ER, she can start on the meds and then go see the doc on Monday?
I would call the nurse again

it can cause problems if left untreated BUT not before monday . she will be okay until then , however i would be more concerned about that high of a fever make sure that it responds to a fever reducer until you can get her in on monday. also if she has had more then 4 sore throats in 6 months she is a good candidate for tonsils out . my daughter is 7 and just had it done the poor girl was always sick with sore throats i finally saw a ENT specialist and he is the one who said 4 or more in 6 months have tonsils out . she had them out in NOV of 07 and hasnt been sick since

Ok I didn't wait for my BIL to call back. The nurse called me back and said "without looking at her the Dr will not call it in" and I said "so what was the point of Dr...so and so telling and showing me what to look for if she got it again?" She just kept rambling like it was no big deal. I finally had it and said "look, tell Dr so and so..thanks alot" and hung up. This is my daughter and I don't have time to be screwing around with her health. Strep twice isn't good within the same month.
Sooooo I went to the ER and sure enough, she had strep. They prescribed a z-pack (stronger then the one before) and also something to stop her cramping. Kiddie pain killer she said. As long as it stops the cramps and spasms. So that was our day. It's eleven o'clock and I'm wore out. Some sleep tonight would be wonderful. I hope ya'lls day went better. :)
