Coping with the death of a pet...

Now I will head back to my trailer, where I'll probably change my mind about what color to paint my walls..again, and snuggle up with my mutt dogs and trashy kids.

I never said rigor had set in, we saw no signs of life and placed him in a hole in the ground, covered it with wood, and checked to make sure our other dogs had left the area alone. That's it, would you like screen shots from my FB account where it's pretty documented? Maybe talk to my 8 year old to verify the story or maybe Megan who had living shit scared out of her? How about a call from the vet I called? I'm sure it's a story they'll remember.?

Honestly this was an uplifting story, yes an unbelievable story but not one where I enjoy being called a liar at every turn, white trash or any other thing.

Don't believe it, then move on. Like a happy ending then enjoy.

RIGOR:

So my dads beloved dog died last summer. In the middle of the summer. He was away with the dog at my grandmothers house when she died. It was heartbreaking as the dog was one of the last things my mother and him had done before she passed.

He called from grandma's house and asked me to go to his place an dig a grave. Which I did. The summer had been extremely dry and hot. It was like digging through rock. I broke all but one shovel which had cracked around the point I felt the grave would be just adequate to lay her down and put a couple of foot dirt on top.

It is a long drive 3hrs on a hot summer day. By the time he had arrived with the dog Rigor had set in completely. The dog was in a standing position. Legs outstretched and completely rigid. There would be no laying the dog in the bottom of the grave.

My choices were limited. I did try to dig a little more at which point the last shovel gave out. So I either had to break the dogs legs (I think: because they would not bend) with my morning father within earshot. Or do what I did: which was lay the dog on his back feet up toward the sky.

This gave me roughly three to four inches of clearance to the top of the grave. I piled the dirt up high and layered rocks on top to keep other animals away.

Whenever I return I check to make the feet don't poke through. I don't know what I will do if the do.

The lesson here for everyone. If you have a dog that passes either on its own or at the vets. Place it in a resting position right away.

We had that happen a few years ago with one of our older dogs. Poor Lupan would dig a little, wet it down, wait, and dig some more. It took that poor boy hours, and it was also in the heat of summer. In the summer our ground becomes like concrete, we are desert technically and he swore he would never do that again. He would just send them off the way the Native Americans did their people.

I'm not sure what's going on with this thread. Are there missing posts? I definitely remember something about rigor having set in already, and then I remember making a joke about it being a zombie dog, and I also remember bssage's account of trying to bury a dog with its leg stuck straight out due to rigor. However, I no longer see any of those three posts. Yes, bssage recently described that event again, but that was yesterday, and I haven't been on here in two days. It was definitely posted before. As I read it, I thought, "Why is he saying this again?"

Personally, I'm not accusing anyone of lying. Perhaps there are medical conditions that mimic rigor. It may very well be difficult to discern a heart beat in dogs. Whatever. But I definitely remember elements of this discussion that have disappeared. I don't know if moderators have the power to delete posts and/or edit them without the italics on the bottom, or if this dog was brought up again in other threads. But something is definitely missing.

Including Keljo's introductory post.

We have plenty of threads that we disagree in. That was their only contribution. So when I went to ban. I completely removed their existence on the site.

I think we have several dog threads. Easy to mix up.

I never mentioned rigor, he wasn't stiff. We cradled him like a baby and laid him in the hole...

As for stuff deleted, yes Keljo was deleted and banned, but you can see some of what he posted where I quoted him. It's one thing to have an opinion. I can handle opinions, well sometimes, but he was personally attacking me, and my kids. I'm not perfect, never claim to be, but when people decide to take pot shot's at my kids I do have an issue with that.

As for what us mod's can do, we can do almost anything, but if we edit someones post, say take out a link or something, it will show who did it and when.

I get that. Keljo's posts were totally rude. But even before they were deleted, I couldn't find an introductory post for him/her.

And the 3 posts I'm talking about were not Keljo's. They were mom2many's, mine, and bssage's. And I remember them, gosh darnit, why is everyone pretending they never existed? I'm 90% sure it was this thread, too.

Keijo did not make an intro post. "She" only made four post on this thread. I only deleted Keijo's stuff.

Its extremely rare we (I) delete a post. I can count the number of times on one hand: that I have deleted a post aside from porn, troll or bad links (Yes I try and check links so your computer's dont turn to mush.).

Keijo fell under the troll category.

Ak I swear on my kids that the only thing altered in this post is Keljo being banned. We've had a few animal post maybe that's where the confusion is. Later when not on my phone I'll do some snooping.

Cybele from what I understand you do not need to sign up the traditional way to comment on the articles, but you also don't get full access.
