My best friend invited us to her house for her oldest son's graduation party (he's a senior) and then her middle child is also going to be celebrated for graduating the 8th grade. Am I supposed to bring gifts or just show up?
I really do not want to go but feel obligated so I'm going to make the best out of it. She even mentioned that she won't know what all is going on because there is going to be so many people there. Ugh.
Do I need to buy gifts? If so what? For both kids?

Too bad you can't give them a coupon book like..."free dating advice" or free "I'll calm your mom down when you get into trouble" card.

Yep.. usually a grad card with either a gift card or a check inside. I wouldn't do more than 20.00 each despite the age difference.

So if I go and not show up with cash then I am a bad friend? I dont' have an extra $40 for her kids. I paid my bills. Hmmm maybe I can find a way to get out of it some how.

Just tell her things are tight :)

She'll understand - she just wants her best friend to share in her kid's accomplishments.

I would say yes.....bring a gift. Maybe make it age appropriete. So like maybe a 20-40 gift gard to american eagle for the older one, and like a 20-40 gift card to old navy or something liek that for the gr.8 one...or wherever that age of kids go shopping these days

^Yeah that's a cute idea.. Totally would work. I wouldn't skip out on it no matter what. Does not make you a bad friend.. things are tough all over.

I definitely think that you should go. If you can't spare the money for gifts, a nice, classy card for each of them would be fine.

Yep, I imagine a gift of some type is expected. I would do a card with a gift card or check inside, probably $25 each.
