Hello!
I'm a new mother and definitely could use some support and advice. My son Jackson was born Aug 2010. He has some medical problems and had to have an Ostomy. Besides that he's as healthy as can be and we are all very happy. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Antoinette, Did you plan on having your kids that close together? I already want another one but everyone seems to have an opinion about it. Is it really that difficult? lol. You would do it again wouldn't you.

haha nope. there was a definite lack of planning in place...

now i have them both i am glad they are so close together because when they are a little older they will be good friends because they will be so close together age wise. they already play together so well and Felix never had he jealousy over a new baby thing because he was so young when she was born.

i think it was a little hard at first because babies need so much attention so because i had two babies it was hard to give them everything they needed and still function. but your a parent and you learn how do conquer anything right :)

i still have two children in nappies which isn't too fun but you get used to it.

if i had the chance over and i could re do it though i still wouldn't. i think if i went back in time i would do everything the exact same way because i couldn't imagine not having them in my life... but so saying that i don't know if i would recommend it to anyone else, it has not always been easy

I know it's not going to be easy but Jackson is such a good boy. Even with all the medical stuff this whole baby thing has been a breeze. lol

Welcome! I think we may have conversed a little on this site already but just in case..
I'm Christian (40) married to Amber (40) for 22 years
We have 7 children: Megan (23), Dylan (19), Dane (18), Cassie (16), Jon (15), Billy (10), and Kaitlyn (10)

Our two oldest sons are 13 months apart and, honestly, it was alot easier on us. Yes, we had those times where they both just wouldnt SHUT UP lol but they are also super close and get along great! They choose to share a room, they have the same friends, and they would get mad when we threatened to seperate them (give them their own rooms).

It was easier in a way that if we wanted to take one somewhere like say..the Zoo, the other wanted to go to. They were interested in the same things.

But for instance, when we wanted to take Billy and Kaitlyn (who were 5 at the time) to the Museam, Cassie (who was 11) thought it was "kid stuff" would HATE it and pitch a fit the entire time.

That Jackson is a cutie pie btw macoops! And if you feel like you have the time, energy, and resources to have another one and you really want to, don't let anything hold you back. :)

thanks for posting Jacks picture, he sure is a cutie! So, what's next for him medically, are there things that can be done for him long term or will he always be without a colon? I can see how growing up with a bag could be very challenging and I'm wondering if there are things they can do medically?

Well when he was born he couldn't poop. He anus was open but just really very tight. It's a tight of Inperferated anus. What they usually do for that is use dilators to stretch everything out. It worked a little, but not enough. He wasn't able to get everything out and would continue to get "backed up". His stomach would be bloated and he was obviously very uncomfortable. The doctors don't know what to do. Our surgeon specialist brought Jacks case up in a board meeting and no one had any suggestions :( according to the MRI there is a lot of inflammation in his rectum, they're not sure if that's causing the problem or is the "problem" is causing that. Right now we're just waiting. I hope everything can be fix with an operation but he's so young right now they don't want to try. Also they want to get a better idea of what everything is before they just go cutting away. Also, his urethra is really tight and he can't empty his badder. They sewed his bladder up to a hole in his stomach, and that drains into his diaper. This all sounds so primitive and awful, And it is, I guess I'm just used to it. Most of the time I hardly think about it. I've asked the Dr's what it will be like if it can't be fixed and they assure me it wont hinder him that much. I have to choose to be positive about it. If he wants to play sports we could just ace bandage the bag down and figure out things. All in all I'm not too worried about it. If he has to have it for life we'll make the best out of it. I'll be sure to keep you up dated if anything does change. His next appointment it at the end of this month. wow this is long.
