Maybe it's because it's not even 6AM yet and my brain isn't in gear yet, but I'm having trouble finding anything about this.

My daughter is 7 months old. Am I right in thinking that she's too young for the vaccine?

(I think we've all already had it anyway.)

I just heard them say 6 months and up on my local news. The risks should be the same as the normal vaccine so I would just ask your doctor or nurse.

Zeitgeist there is no way you have already had the vaccine, the first load was sent out for use yesterday! It works the same way as seasonal vaccines (we don't really have them here unless you are 65+) just instead of replicated seasonal flu strains they use swine flu strains.

ya'll may have had a touch of the flu already but jeremy is sorta right. they did just get the vaccine out there. some areas still don't even have the reg. flu vaccine---the kids'. dr. office doesn't. (atleast that's what they keep telling us.)
webmd is pretty reliable..
the link for what they have on the h1n1 vaccine
H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccine FAQ
its got some questions w/answers you might want to check out. but dh and i have been seeing on and reading in the news quite a bit of conflicting information on all the flu this season from school closings to who is getting hit the hardest.

A few places will have vaccine as soon as Friday, Oct. 2. All states will be offering some vaccine beginning the week of Oct. 5.

hope no one gets it too hard if ya do get either version of the flu

oh! and from webmd:
The nasal spray vaccine is approved only for healthy people ages 2 to 49. The first doses of the vaccine will go to health care workers with direct patient contact and to caregivers and household members of infants under 6 months of age. (Small infants are at high risk of flu complications but can't start vaccination until they're 6 months old). The nasal spray vaccine is NOT approved for pregnant women.
The flu shots, depending on the manufacturer, are approved for kids as young as 6 months of age and are safe for pregnant women.

Swine flu vaccinations started yesterday in the UK, they are doing it in rounds on a persons health. They have started with health care workers and the seriously ill, the next group are those with health problems who are any age, those with regular contact with people with compromised immune systems, pregnant women and then lastly those who are 65+ and healthy.

I think he meant they have already had the flu
Yes. We went to my brother's wedding, someone brought it along and gave it to everyone. It knocked us down for a week. Hard. I lost over 10 pounds.

Thing is, my wife already had the regular flu and I've had the regular flu shot. So that suggests to me that it was the H1N1.

The girl also got sick... but only for a couple of days before she was ready to play again. Needless to say, neither my wife nor I were ready to play. :veryconfused:

Ah I know what you mean. I was scared to get my twins vaccinated as well. They're almost 9 months old but you know how I feel.

Your daughter should be just fine. Nothing more than a sore arm. My twins didn't even cry. My arm hurts very bad from getting it but that's all their is.

I was more scared of the Adjuvant they added than the actual vaccine. But your little girl will be alright. And if they say she needed it twice. It may not be the case. They're now saying that once may be enough for children. I'm not sure if that's because they don't have enough to vaccinate everyone or what.

we are having a hard time getting the flu vaccine since we aren't able to get to the clinics that have it---those are few and far between. not even the kids' new doc has the reg. one. i don't see it happening this year, not even with the girls being on the list of those to get it first....

From wikipedia... that's why it's called swine flu!
Doesn't mean it originates in pigs, birds commonly carry swine flu, doesn't mean we call it bird flu! Swine flu, as well as canine flu originate in horses, also if you compare the two they both appear as a mixture between human and avian flu.

:mad:my girls still haven't gotten any flue vaccines. not the h1n1 or the reg. vaccine--not that we wanted the h1n1 since they rushed the testing and all and we ain't about to trust That one. they're on the danged list for those who are supposed to be first. people are getting them that shouldn't. the clinics and docs offices that are giving them to the folks that need them are running out. plus some areas mass ordered the vaccines so the smaller clinics did Not get any. we can't even get to the clinics that do and have had them available.
