Cute. I didn't know if you were talking about the shirt or if that was a picture of the way you wanted your childs hair. I'm caught up now.

lol ok. Yep thats my boy I cut his hair this morning. I've never seen a kid not like their own hair. He pulls on it once it starts touching his ears. He has lots of shirts like that. Dad wears em too.

Did you see in the paper where a mother had her kindergarten son in school with a mohawk and they suspended her son. They told her he could NOT have that because it was distracting. She's fighting it but they won't bend the rules. So sad, it's YOUR child you should be able to do what you want.

I didnt see that. I have seen lots of kids with mohawks. Unless its a foot tall and multi colored I dont see the issue. I'll only get so long to cut it like I want before he gets to choose. My bro wore some form of mohawk untill he was about 10.

Thanks MM I knew you'd do a link. I wonder why mom thought she could put her kid in a private school that pushes uniformity and then let her boy have a mohawk? That just seems really dumb to me. To me that would be like wearing a hooker outfit to church.

It's still her child and I think she should be allowed. It's her baby. I wouldn't put up with it either. It's distracting? So is picking noses, or coughing, or talking out of turn. I mean they need to not be so dictatorish (sp)

I don't like rules like that. I am all for uniforms if the school chooses that, but to force a child to have a specific hair cut as well? ridiculous! He is 5!!

<s></s>The Board believes that parent(s)/guardian(s) must take the responsibility for the development of the student’s good habits in the area of safety, health, decency, and cleanliness. Good grooming and neatness on the part of each student reflects an expression of pride in him/herself and in his/her school.<e></e>

<s></s>The Board recognizes that its students have a constitutional right to free speech and expression. However, a student’s exercise of those rights is not without limits where the student’s dress or grooming interferes with the educational process. In an effort to balance the Board and students’ respective rights and interests, students will be expected to observe a standard of dress and grooming that is appropriate while attending school. Forms of student dress and grooming will be acceptable as long as they are neat, clean and are not distracting, nor interfere with school safety standards. Rules of dress and grooming which clearly support the health and safety of students will be upheld.<e></e>

I dont consider a mohawk an EXTREAME style.

I also think he should NOT be allowed to wear a mohawk at a school with obvious uniformity rules. I wouldn't consider a 5-6 yo strong enough to rock a mohawk without being disruptive. He could have just combed it back or to the side for school. It's still a mohawk even if it's not spiked.</r>
