Hi there,

I'm the father of an 11 month old girl. I work from home and my job doesn't require constant attention as such I'm her primary care giver. She LOVES to hit, scratch, and pull on faces and facial features. She does this to my German Shepherd too (the dog either hides in the kitchen behind the baby gate or offers a toy instead). I usually gently push her arms down and say "no", "no hitting", or simply "ouch". The problem is she thinks its funny when I say these things. So not only am I dealing with a young child who enjoys hitting, but she also thinks "no" is funny. One day she scratched a scab off my face and it hurt really bad so I very sternly said "NO!" with a raised voice and the poor girl started pouting and her lips started quivering as if she were on the verge of tears. I really don't know what to do.

Thank you,
