I went for physical therapy yesturday because my back issues have been getting worse so after an MRI which showed deteriorating discs, buldging discs, blah blah blah (the normal twin carrying mothers back I assume) I had to go to physical therapy.

This man felt around and got down towards my tailbone which at first I thought was wierd. He pushed on a bone back there and all of a sudden my spasms starting shooting down my legs and I wanted to cry. He turned me over and pushed and pulled my pelvic bones and he said they moved. He asked if I've ever broken them. I said "not that I know of but after the twins birth I could not lay on my side for a year" Maybe they did break but how would I have known. I was always in pain.

So there is this flat bone in the back that goes in between your pelvic bone and mine is turned inward on my right side. The tailbone is under this bone. Ari will know what it's called.
He is talking to other PTs to find out what they can do. I am sooooooo happy that someone has finally figured out what this is from!
I know too much info but I wanted to share. hehehe

I'm trying to figure it out. :) The tailbone - the last part of the spine - is the coccyx. The bone right above that is the sacrum. The sacrum is in the back, between the iliac crests of the pelvis. Here's a picture:

Did he say anything about it being rotated or mention the SI joint (sacroiliac joint)? It sounds like he is talking about a problem with the SI joint, which is where the sacrum and the pelvis meet in the back. One initial test for this is pressing on the spot over the join on your back; maybe that was part of what he was doing. Here's a sports med page on sacroiliac joint inflammation: link

If it's the SI joint, it's not that uncommon. But most people don't know there's a joint there (there's actually two - one on each side) and so think it's weird. :) A good PT, often working with either an orthopedic spine specialist or a physical medicine and rehabilitation doc, should be able to help you out.

I hope so! Back pain is miserable.

He pointed to that bone with all the holes in it. If that is the sacrum then yes! Thank you for the info. 7 years of this and they are just now telling me this? Oye.

Glad to hear you are going to get some relief!

I was lucky in the fact that my OB was a D.O. and would give me chiropractic adjustments when I went in for my pregnancy checkups. It really helped with the pregnancy back pain.

hmm from the educational shows I have watched its instant gratification for men for women it takes longer in that area.

Hmm Maybe i will call my foster brother and find out if it wears off after awhile.

Honestly I think it would just irritate it more and cause it inflame.
