At my household we use a strike system. The strike system works like this. For little things like, not using manners or answering back you have 4 strikes a day. The strikes reset them self daily. So if your child breaks a small rule you put one strike on the chart and nothing happens. If your child breaks another small rule you put another strike on the chart. If your child gets them self another strike they then get grounded for the day. And if they get another strike on the chart they get grounded for a week and I carry out a 'spanking'.
When giving this 'spanking' you quickly and silently grasp them . You sit down on the bed and then you place them over your knee so they can't see you and their bottom is at the same level as your hand. You then pull down their first layer of clothing and give a number of smacks onto their underwear. This number is their age. The smacks don't need to be hard but they need to be firm to show your child that your serious.
