The skin is a dynamic organ formed by different cell types that carry out various biosynthetic and immunological processes, among the latter are the mechanisms of innate and adaptive resistance, which are activated when there are attacks on the tissue. The induction of the adaptive immune response is performed by dendritic cells (Langerhans) located in the epidermis and responsible for the uptake, processing and skin cell pro presentation of antigens to lymphocytes in local lymph nodes. As a result of this process, T lymphocytes are sensitized, which express the CLA molecule, which allows them to bind to selectin E from endotheliums, penetrate into the epidermis and resides as memory T lymphocyte to trigger inflammatory responses, once they are activated by the antigen presenting cells. Deregulation of these mechanisms is associated with inflammatory skin diseases such as allergies, infections, or cancer. Therefore, knowledge of the immune processes that occur in the skin will allow us to propose therapeutic strategies for these conditions.
