Some of you might remember how Ted's doctor just up and quit on us, no warning, no med's...nothing. Until yesterday we were just using his regular doctor to get his med's but they decided they didn't want to do it anymore, so they referred us out.
That took a few tries but finally we got in. At first I was a little concerned because it was for med management and I was really trying to find another psychiatrist. Let's say that is not easy if you don't really want to drive over 50 miles away.
I was impressed, it's a little out of the way office but the people were unbelievably nice. We were in the office for over an hour, they asked a ton of questions. A few of Ted's answers I was surprised by...like the fact he wouldn't mention a fire to anyone if he was in a movie theater. He would just get up and leave unless me or dad was there. There were a few other life skills, nothing you would run into often, that he didn't know the correct response to either.
At the end, he diagnosed him with Bi-Polar 1, and is going to try to get the records from his previous doctor but I guess they have been having problems doing that. He also recognized that Ted has severe developmental delay's and mentioned that they have a specialist in the office who works with young men like him..if I was interested. I am so in 2 weeks we have an appointment with him/her. I am not sure what all it entails but the doc did mention possible doing some more test on him now that his med's seem to have evened out and maybe finding exactly what it is that Ted has.
So that the news on the Ted front. I think all and all things are looking a little better for him.
