Every year for Valentines Day, most students makes cards for all their classmates, and sometimes give out candy or goodies with them. (I specify because I realize not all countries have this tradition.) For younger students, it's encouraged as a way for them to practice writing their names and their classmates' names, and also reading them when they are passed out.
Anyway, I made Valentines Day cards and goody bags with my school-age kids tonight, and I noticed that there was a big giant bow on one of my daughter's cards - only one. I guess that's an 8-year-old's expression of a crush? So cute!
