Hey, so I got this app when my child was born. I was searching for when I should expect him to start walking and found this. It has something like 200 milestones on it! Now I know when my kid should be able to dress himself, know his colors etc. Great way to guide you in watching your kid grow. I hope you enjoy!

We use YouTube for educational purposes. Our boy is very young but the sing-along songs are fun and educational. I think finding a good mix is best, don't let them sit in front of the computer or TV all day, mix in some outdoor fun time. But there's a lot to learn via tablets, computers, etc. You just need to be aware of where they are online.
Yes, these days technology is a life saver. Nowadays people live in nuclear families and experiencing a child for the first time, is generally alone for them. They have no adults or relatives around who will answer their doubts. So people turn to google to find out answers. It is a life saver.

I can't agree more with everybody's opinion. Technology no doubt is something we can't do without. As much as the boundless advantages available in the world of technology, there re as much danger in it too. My kids love chatting and playing games. But katherine loves music more and not much into game. All i try do is do most of this things with them in a friendly way. I play games with my kids often and even give him some chatting tips and all. By this, i get to know who their friends are and try as much to keep them away from bad influence.
On the game part, it actually helped me in dealing with my boys academic some time ago. He was not doing well in maths at all. And he doesn't even like studying it. I began my search on google for a possible way out. I eventually found a maths game that has tremendously helped him. It makes teaching maths fun and at the same time broaden his quantitative reasoning. Here is the link if anyone is interested http://tinyurl.com/86varzt . I just think we should try and be using those things they love doing to their benefits in a positive way.

It's harder and harder to raise kids in this day of age without influences from smart phones / tablet / notebook.
I installed an application on my phone to control my 3 year old from using the phone or tablet for excessive long time than permitted.
I got it from the link below for Android phone. I think they are making for iPhone but not yet released.

I truly believe that technology plays a huge positive andnegative role in parenting and life. For one if someone is looking for some qualitative data, technology is awesome...I mean we are all here right?! We are here for stories, experiences, advice and connections and most of us would not be talking if not for our laptops and wifis (or whatever!). However I have a real fear of technology related to obtaining pure hard facts, such as medical issues etc. Now I have searched things online about my lil one, however, I see on a daily basis people in the hospital screaming at doctors and nurses about something they read on wikipedia about their moms illness and our ignorance. In the wrong hands and skill sets these sites can be very dangerous! Some sites provide home remedies and advice that can be dangerous and people really need to take care where and what information is coming from!!!! I recently had a critical patient with infection throughout his body because he read on line about maggot treatment for wounds....so he let food go bad and sit out....waited for maggots to arrive and place them on his heel wounds to eat away necrosis....not a good idea!!
Monkey sees, monkey dos. I think you have to start educating the kids when they are still young. Honesty is the number one value in my family. And in the area of technology, I am very much against 'thefts' like downloading illegal apps. Nowadays, preteens and teens take media pirating for granted. However, there are always exceptions and they will turn around somehow if they are taught about the right values from a young age. I came across this website lately and the youngster changed from a "pirate" to someone who tries his best to persuade and help others to win the media piracy war or struggle. I think the sacrifice has not nearly been worth the gain. Don't get me wrong, I can't blame it all on technology. After all, we were all too willing to accept it. Technology and parenting... Without technology chances are that I would be jobless right now. I am a mother of two young children. Thanks to technology I am able to work from home in the very presence of my two lovely babies. And by the way,now that we are discussing parenting and technology - who has tried out Snuza Hero Baby Monitor? Would love to hear your thoughts about it

Parents should do their best to teach their children the benefits of using technology. They should always keep on their children to see when they are putting technology to good use. At the same time parents can learn much more via technology too when it comes to parenting.
I feel as though the cycle remains the same with technology or not.
Kids will be able to do things easier because of technology, at the same time, because of technology they won't experience "good" things we did as a child.
Examples being kids can watch any show they want now a days, relatively commercial-free. The counter to this is, technology is so good kids don't want to play outside as much.
I think it is important to become invested in your kids technology, as well as catch them up with yours.
