This is coming from an interesting article I just read. Check it out for more detailed descriptions:

1.) Limit internet usage
2.) Include more ''brain'' foods in their diet
3.) Banish foods that are bad for their brain
4.) Regular exercise is critical
5.) Don't underestimate the power of sleep

How about everyone else - what are some of your general rules when it comes to promoting a healthy brain and lifestyle for your child?

I pretty much agree with all of them. I think they are common sense really, but as far as the banish the foods that are bad for the brain, I think as long as they don't overdo it on the bad foods, it wont hurt them.
