A bit of exciting news....

Dita and Violet are engaged.

Really took everyone by surprise, we knew they were very serious about their relationship, but we didn't realise it was to that extent. They bought this beautiful ring set, both with a half crescent of emeralds that lock together in a circle when joined.

Unfortunately though, that's really as far as they can go with it at the moment, but regardless, it is still wonderful news for us.

Aw congrats to them, that's awesome! did she ever end up moving in with you guys?

Yeah, she's been living with us for quite a while now.

Congratulations. Sounds extra nice as she is already kinda family. The plus is that they both have a good family to model after (yours).

Didn't you say they were attending different schools?

They did go to different high schools, and they have both applied to different universities.

They will be able to get married, won't they? But I guess they would want to finish their studies first...

No, they won't. Not in Australia at the moment at least.

Who knows what the future may hold though.

That's sad. Would they at least be able to get a "civil union" our something like that, and get some legal benefits?

 

[cybele]

Defacto couples have the exact same legal benefits to married couples here, so that's not really an issue.

I asked Dita about a civil union and she said it was insulting, which I understand.
