Idk..I might.
I have stomach issues when I eat.

Sometimes I can eat something and I get sharp stabbing pains in my lower intestines and it feels like im being ripped apart all the while im fleeing for the bathroom...

I have lazy bowl syndrome. lol. No joke I was diagnosed with it as a small child. Makes for a VERY slow metabolism so its quite easy to gain excess weight. Petes brother in law has IBS and so does his good buddy. Not fun!

Never heard of Lazy Bowel Syndrome. Interesting. No, IBS is not fun. :( I

Yes, sounds like IBS is a possiblity for you. I've had it for over 20 yrs. and it has become more problematic over the past 2 years. Several months ago I started an IBS diet, and although it can be a PITB, I'm feeling much better. Yeah!

My wife may have that. She's scheduled to have an EEG and a Colonoscopy the first week of June to find out. She experiences symptoms like Cop2Be is...she'll be fine eating pizza one day, but the next day she'll spend the next 6 hours in the bathroom.

at first I thought you're thread was "Anyone with IRS" quite a different subject altogether.

And sorry, the answer is no (to either version of the question.)

My doctors thought I had it, but actually I have celiacs disease, turns out more than half of IBS diagnosis are incorrect and the patient actually has celiacs.

Instead of a colonoscopy she can be given a small tablet, it is a mini camera that travels through your gut, sends the video to a computer and then you just poo it out as normal. Mine was half an inch long.

hmmm, a brief internet search didn't turn up this camera alternative...what's it called? It may not be available in the US...

but it begs two questions.

1)- What's the advantage (other than the presumption that it follows the "natural flow" of things....)?

2) - Is there a deposit on the camera?

hmmmm, endoscopy is done quite different there. Here' it's virtually never under general and virtually always outpaitent.

and yes I meant monetary...it was kinda a joke in case you pooped it out and flushed it away.....

ahhh well

You just swallow a new one, you don't fish it out your poo, you just flush it away.

Yes, Celiac Disease and IBS have similar symptoms. I've had a whole series of tests to rule out other things because there is no definitive test for IBS. It's more so a process of elimination while considering symptoms. I've heard of the camera test, but a colonoscopy is the only way to truly rule out colon cancer, which can mimic other intestinal issues.

I've had 2 colonoscopies/endoscopies. Both tests done during the same procedure while under general anesthesia. During the last time, they also took a biopsy, which is the only true way to test for Celiac Disease. There is a blood test, but it's not 100% accurate. (I do not have Celiac Disease.)

Since I've had everything else ruled out, I did more research concerning IBS. My GI specialist is an awesome doctor, but not very helpful in certain areas. When I asked if there were common IBS food triggers, his reply was, "I can't answer that because it is highly individual." Hmmm, well according to my research there ARE common triggers and irritants. Many of them I had figured out myself, but there were ones I was not aware of. Since following this diet I've been feeling much better. :)

Common IBS triggers are:
- Red meat (this includes pork)
- Dairy
- Egg yolks (whites are fine)
- Poultry dark meat and skin
- Fried foods
- Coconut
- Oils
- Shortening
- Butter
- Fats
- Solid chocolate
- Coffee
- Caffeine
- Alcohol
- Carbonated drinks
- Artificial Sweeteners

A friend took the camera test. She swallowed the camera, which is shaped like a large pill. It takes pics every so many minutes while passing through the digestive system. Don't ask me to explain the specifics, but these pics are somehow sent to the Dr. and monitored. (Think digital/Wifi type of transmission.) The camera itself is passed out of the body within a BM and is flushed down the toilet.

Forgot to mention... An Endoscopy is from the mouth down into the stomach. It doesn't involve the bowels at all. A colonoscopy is from the rectum up into the intestines. So, I can safely say I've had my digestive plumbing thoroughly checked. LOL!
