Has anybody every heard of this? My friend's baby had a couple seizures one day, and after spending time with specialists, neurologists, etc, she was told it was because he had GERD. I know that's not typical GERD, anybody heard of this before?

My son has seizures but they're diagnosed as focal seizures. I've never heard of GERD. What is it?

It stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease. Acid reflux. It's pretty common... just not the seizure part...

My DD had GERD as an infant but didn't have seizures. I suppose in extreme cases it's possible, but I'm not a doctor. As a parent I think I'd want a second opinion. What if the seizures are something totally different not related to GERD?

If the seizures are bad enough it can cause GERD or a reflux in stomach acid/content. That is why they always tell you to lay the person on their side so they don't aspirate.
We also often see Sandifer's Syndrome in our pediatric office. Which is dystonic movements associated with GERD in infants and children but is often mistaken for seizures.
So yes they both can be associated with each other.
