Has anyone suffered side effects and if so what side effects,i am thinking of having mine removed and opting for a hysterectomy.

Do you use it for contraception, or physical issues? If it is contraception, I believe that a hysterectomy is far to severe, you could have your tubes tied instead.

Can you even do that? Will anybody give you a hysterectory electively? Much more common would be a tubal ligation, like Rosa said.

You may want to discuss various methods with your doctor, there are vairous chemical options available that might suit you better. (i.e oral or injected contraceptives?)

Of what about your partner, maybe he'd take the lead on contraception...

You can also get a copper coil, which doesn't have any hormones.
