This is a hypothetical question.

If a woman gets pregnant from a man who she knows almost nothing about (she only knows first name) what will happen in terms of things like child support?

If she doesn't know who the man is, how can she sue for child support? Or will the state go after finding who the biological father is?

It really depends on the situation but how often would this happen? You either know the person or you don't. This is just my opinion, but I feel that if a woman jumps in bed with a man she just knows the name of, she should not ask for child support. Again, just my opinion.

What can the state do? DNA test everyone, hoping for a match? I'm pretty sure you have to narrow it down for them at least a little.

My impression is that the mother is responsible for the costs of DNA tests that turn out negative, if she has a lot of potentials. I'm sure it varies by state.
