Not debate, advice regarding structure ;)...

Discipline and structure are extremely important. Flexibility is just as powerful. If your kids are well behaved and go to bed when told then making a special exception every once in a while is actually positive. Just like in life. If they perform they get a certain amount of autonomy...

My wife won't stop hitting my son :-(...

What are you going to do with the dog when you move to Spain? I really doubt your going to want to take it with you. I also doubt you will find housing that will allow it.

Has anyone advice on a bitter divorce case and helping children heal?...

I couldn't disagree with this type of advice more!! Be professional, and take the high-ground. This is very emotional for everyone and you don't need to add childish fuel to the fire. I'm a divorced parent, and I just got done coaching my sons soccer team with his new Step-Dad. I had...

My wife won't stop hitting my son :-(...

Veronica your feeling bad at 3:12 am not because what your kids did, but because what you didn't do. This is okay. The answer would have been to make the 3 year old clean up the mess, yes time out works also - cause and effect works wonders. The more you use these techniques the more effective...

    just a rant...

I'm leaving my career after 16 years. I'm just 4 years away from retirement. He will only find quality time in the quantities of time he spends with his children. If it's financially driven I would move into a cheap one bedroom apartment before I missed out on my children's lives. I'm...

My wife won't stop hitting my son :-(...

Veronica, I'm super impressed on your ability to self correct. That takes a lot of power and confidence. Your kids are so lucky to have someone like you. That's the beauty of parenting. If we pay attention we can learn while the kids are still young and don't know any better. I think...

    How good is HIPPY?...

I think the quote was a bit misplaced. I think the concept of getting what you expect applies more to behavior. You know "Terrible Two's" mentality. My least favorite saying in the world.

    How good is HIPPY?...

Not sure what you are disagreeing with. You always get what you expect? I just mean to expect good things from your kids, and don't place limitations. Of course don't be unreasonable with your expectations either. I think I get your point though. I guess I can say " You never know".

    How good is HIPPY?...

The most amazing things about kids is you almost always get what you expect!

    How good is HIPPY?...

Besides all of the great ways to teach your child I really like the idea that you will be starting their education off with them learning to learn from you. I think that is terrific and will pay off greatly in the long run. Parents! Home school or not, we should all be our child's...

    Child Surveillance & Nanny Cams...

I use cameras like your preschool did. Just another tool to peek in on them to make sure they are okay. I have remote cameras that I have use with the young ones to help us keep an eye on them. Kaytee, I agree with your plan to not let them go out if you need to track them. Hannah's Mom I...

A Navy SEAL's Guide To Fatherhood...

It's sad that so many people miss out on the benefits of being active with their children. I don't know anyone who's life wouldn't be better if they would just get out be active, and do the things they love to do. What really scares me is when people claim to be sacrificing their health, and...

    Child Surveillance & Nanny Cams...

I'm curious your thoughts, and concerns around this subject. As your kids grow older GPS transmitters, and locators will be in Walmart. Right now you can put hidden cameras any where you wanted to keep an eye on them. Is anyone else using technology to protect their children?
