Discipline and structure are extremely important. Flexibility is just as powerful.

If your kids are well behaved and go to bed when told then making a special exception every once in a while is actually positive.

Just like in life. If they perform they get a certain amount of autonomy.

Just let him know that even in the most structured and discipline groups in the world there is still room for flex. As long as breaking the rules is the exception and well not the rule.

Stick together and communicate.
