3 year old son out of control...

We are having problems with our 3 year old son. He throws these incredible tantrums that my wife and I don't know how to respond to. It's getting out of control. For example, the other day my wife dropped him off at his day home and he had one of his typical fits. He didn't want to go. He...

    kids say the darnedest things...

Ha! Ha! ^ Don't you love child logic? Here's one: We have been potty training our daughter and she has been coming up with some pretty creative descriptions of her poop, some of which are: -a worm -a sausage -a rotten pear -a hurt kangaroo -a dolphin

    regressing after poddy training...

Both your comments ring very true for me. Yes she does get very involved in her games and doesn't want to break for even a second. She might be holding it in until she can't hold it in any longer. We usually do sit her down frequently enough and we do watch for the potty dance. Still it's not...

    regressing after poddy training...

My wife and I have just recently got our daught of 3 yrs & 1 month poddy trained. She was doing great for a while, but now she seems to be regressing. She always claims it's an accident but I can't tell. Sometimes she's able to tell us that she has to go poop before she really does, but...

My daughter is breaking my heart...

Nah, nothing as serious as that. At first, I think it was because she was mad at me for some reason (I didn't let her eat junk food, for example). And then came the announcement at the dinner table: I don't love my daddy! Well, of course, everybody (including me) laughed, and I think that's what...

Thanks both. Playing it low key for now. I think I'll survive. :D

My daughter is breaking my heart...

One day, my 2 1/2 yr old daughter decided it would be funny if she told me she didn't love me. She made an announcement to the whole (extended) family around the dinner table: "I don't love my daddy!!!" That was over a month ago, and she's still milking it. Every time I ask her "Do you love me...

    kids say the darnedest things...

On the weekend: The phone rings. I pick it up. "hello... hellooo..." And finally: "Good afternoon, sir, may I please speak to Mr. Shah." I hang up (as I usually do). My 2 1/2 yr old daughter asks "telemarketer?"

    kids say the darnedest things...

My 2 yr old daughter is starting to do this in the bath. She advertizes it to: look what I'm doing daddy? To which I just say "That's nice, baby" and then try to change the subject. I don't want to tell her its wrong - I don't believe in that - but at some point I'm going to have to tell her she...

    Its official - I'm insane....

I wouldn't call it fun, but it can be reinforcing. Something about the brain chemistry of having a good work out makes you want to do it again - especially if it's in the sun.

3 month old boy inconsolable at night...

Thanks both. Yeah, we've tried each and every one of those suggestions... except checking for an ear infection. Might be worth a shot. I know his older sister of 2 1/2 yrs has been fighting ear infections on and off for the past 6 months or so. I don't think it's contageous though.

3 month old boy inconsolable at night...

We have a 3 month old son who seems to have developped something like 1 hour per day colic. It's almost like clockwork: at around 9:00pm, he becomes absolutely inconsolable - I mean it, nothing helps. And his cries are deafening - he's definitely got some good lungs. If we're lucky, we can get...

2 yr old afraid of the dark - please help...

Well, we got a break last night. My wife got home at around 8 and our daughter hadn't had a nap that day so she was dead tired - fast asleep in fact. So we carried her to bed and that was it for the night. However, she did wake up early (not surprising). It was 10 to 7 and she started crying...

2 yr old afraid of the dark - please help...

Yeah, we do have soft music playing, but that doesn't seem to be enough. I am thinking the same thing about the lights though. She might need a brighter night light. The one she has is barely bright enough to see anything in the room. If I can't get one tonight, I might try just leaving the...
