    Travelling with kids...

Thank you for the great ideas! I will have to share some of the earplug idea on my blog, if you don't mind! It's the first time I have heard that suggestion. Excellent!

    hello and help plz...

Good thoughts. Talk to your daughter privately and ask her sincerely to tell you her impressions and reasons. Children do see deeper than we do at times, and regardless, by demonstrating that her opinion is important to you, you will strengthen your relationship with your daughter.

    kids say the darnedest things...

Yesterday, my 2-year-old son told me, "Mom, I love you 26!" He thought that when I said "I love you too", I was referring to the number!

    how to potty train babies?...

Honestly, I think that boys are ready to train later than girls. My friend (who is a grandma now) waited until her boys were 3 to train them. Having said that, I have taught my 2 year old son to pee on the potty when I ask him to, but as his favourite word is "NO!", we really aren't working...

My 13 year old daughter still wets the bed....

My eldest wet the bed into their teens. It is nothing short of horrible for the poor child. We tried all the waking, plastic sheets and what-not. Sadly, none of it 'cured' the problem. We finally stuck with the plastic mattress protector, and the sheets were replaced and the plastic...

    Quitting smoking?...

    Harmless fun or exploitation?...

We never entered our daughter in a kiddie pageant because we wanted our clear message to be that inner beauty is far more important than physical beauty. It was an issue, because she is extremely beautiful. We decided that if she wanted to model, she could do so when she was older. Needless...

    Constipated kids and vegetables (suggestions)...

Our toddler experiences constipation and the best cure we have discovered is to eat beans. I prepare dried organic beans in the slow cooker and they turn out beautifully. He plasters the dish with ketchup, and it is a ritual to eat them every day for lunch. We vary the flavours: maple syrup...

Frustrated and upset with both of us!...

Your strategies are sound. Letting him experience consequences is a very good method of building responsibility. I would suggest that you have a quick interview with the teacher and insist your son attend. Tell both the teacher and your son what you have bee doing and your reasons. Ask them...

opinion on speaking up when hurt...

Situational communication is the key. There is no one correct response to the same situation with two different people. Each person brings their own personality, experiences, and beliefs into each human interaction. The key word here is: human. We are all so unique that it takes time and...

    Feel like a parent...

We had this problem with our eldest son. It is 'cool' to couch surf and live without responsibility. We gave him 2 weeks notice and kicked him out. He was shocked, but our firm tone told him we meant business, and we did. He found another couch to 'crash' on for a short time - funny how...

May switch our kindergartner from public to private school...

I used to teach elementary school (Grades 1 to 8) but now I homeschool our children. I agree with Dadof4. There is no comparison. The benefits are so numerous. If it is within your ability, consider homeschooling your children. It is well worth it.
